Pandemonium broke out yesterday in Chicago following a late night shooting that left several people wounded.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered from sources that 12 people, including a three-year old who one witness said was hit in the face, were shot on a basketball court at a South Side Chicago park.

According to Chicago Fire Department, three of the gunshot victims, including the child, were in serious-to-critical condition.

The shooting comes as Chicago struggles to stem an epidemic of gang violence that helped push the city’s murder rate up 16 percent to 506 people last year.

It is the adopted home town of President Barack Obama, who has made serious moves, including visiting and appealing for a reduction in gangster activities. He has pressed for gun control measures, which so far have been stalled in the US Congress.
