At the end of the first 45 minutes, the Flying Eagles trail their German opponents by a lone goal.

The goal, scored in the 19th minute by Levin Oztunali, came as a result of a selfish play by a Nigerian player who tried to dribble past two people before losing the ball.

Germany had nine shots at goal, and four on target as they forced the Nigerian goalkeeper to make saves. The Germans completely dominated their opponent while also having over 60 per cent ball possession in the half.

The Nigerian team, coached by Manu Garba, now have 45 minutes to either exit the championship or secure victory against the Germans to progress to the quarter final of the competition.

More details later…
