Ten Died in Nairobi Supermarket Robbery Incident

From Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that there was a gun fight inside a shopping centre which has left at least ten people dead.

According to further findings, Police confirmed that gunfire started as suspected armed robbers tried to rob a shop in the Westgate centre, a leading shopping mall in the capital city.

The gunfire caused a lot of pandemonium with dozens of shoppers fleeing the scene, while several people are still feared trapped inside.

CEOAFRICA further gathered from sources that gunmen had taken at least seven people hostage. Officers have now surrounded the building in an attempt to evacuate remaining shoppers.

At least four people have also been wounded in the attack. While unofficial death toll was put at ten bodies.

Eyewitnesses say masked attackers threw grenades into the building at about midday local time (09:00 GMT).

Speaking about the incident, Nairobi police chief Benson Kibue said the gunmen had been trying to rob a shop within the mall when the shooting began.
