30,000 CAPAPCITY RICE MILL COMMISSIONED IN KWARA STATE

Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has commissioned 30,000 capacity Quarra rice mill in the State part of the project to curb the over reliance on imported rice.

According to Governor Ahmed who stated that it is an alarming that Nigeria at its developmental stage still spends billions of dollars annually on the importation of two million metric tons of rice, the new initiative will aid in saving billions that would have been wasted on importation of rice.

The Kwara State governor also highlighted that the huge spending on importation also contributed to the lot of money wasted on scarce foreign exchange which further reduce the growth of the local agriculture while accelerating the growth of foreign economies.

He declared however that the 30,000 tone capacity rice mill will contribute towards meeting the local demand for rice in Nigeria.
