President Kiir Lays Foundation Stone of Teaching Hospital in South Sudan

From South Sudan, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that President Salva Kiir Mayardit has laid the foundation stone for the construction of a standard maternity ward at Wau Teaching Hospital in accordance to a comprehensive health service improvement plan proposed by the National Ministry of Health.

The ministry of health states that the maternity ward complex will consist of more than twenty wards, and the construction work will be funded by the ministry of health with the collaboration of World Health Organization.

During the foundation-laying ceremony, President Kiir appreciated the World Health Organization and Canadian Embassy for their supports to Wau Teaching Hospital. President Kiir also expressed gratitude for the Comprehensive plan laid by the ministry of Health to improve the health services in the Country. He said his government is ready to support the plan.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Riak Gai Kok, the National Minister of Health, announced that after four months from now, the Blood Bank, Central Laboratory and maternity of Wau teaching Hospital will be opened. He said improving the health service in the country is one of the top Priorities of the new Government.
