PERMANENT SECRETARY, MINISTRY OF YOUTHS DEVELOPMENT, DR. TUNJI OLAOPA
The Federal Government has at the weekend disclosed that the recent reshuffle in the cabinet was necessary to foster productivity and national development as the public service is a major tool to achieving government policies.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youths Development, Dr. Tunji Olaopa, articulating this at the Annual Conference of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, stressed that the removal of some persons in the public service was to “re-tool the public service for greater effectiveness and efficiency.”
Dr Olaopa, in his paper entitled: “Reforming The Public Service For Excellence And Ethical Leadership,” justified the need for reforms as a re-engineering process intended to uplift the age-long role of the service as the engine room for national transformation.
“Current effort is directed at establishing a culture of professionalism, value re-orientation, re-skilling and the installation of a new business model through a paradigm shift from the old bureaucratic tradition to install a new productivity paradigm in the national economy,” he said.
