NIGERIA POLICE RECOVERS N6.8M FROM APPREHENDED ATM VANDAL

The Nigeria Police reported to have apprehended a suspect who is into the act of vandalisation of ATMs in Abuja.

CEOAFRICA gathered that the arrest was prompted by the report received by the Utako Division from a bank located at Jabi that an ATM machine has been vandalized with all the money removed.

According to the report, the policemen which were immediately dispatched to the scene eventually arrested the suspect, Jamilu Hassan, who was found hiding at the point of the vandalized ATM.

The suspect was said to have confessed to the crime when interrogated, saying he learnt how to open a safe and tamper with machines on You Tube, and that he has removed the sum of N6, 873,000 form the machine.

Recovered from the suspect who disclosed to have gained entry into the bank around 2.00am on Saturday included gloves, screwdrivers, chisels and spanners of various sizes.

However, spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command, Atine Hyelhira Daniel, who confirmed the incident, said investigations were ongoing.
