President Kenyatta Declared Three Days of Mourning in Honour of Westgate Terrorist Attack Victims In Kenya

President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya declared three days of national mourning , as Kenyan Army ends four days of hostilities by attackers that seiezed Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi.

In a televised address to the nation, President Kenyatta said five attackers were shot dead by troops and 11 suspects are in custody.

“Kenya has shamed and defeated our attackers, but the losses are immense”, he said, confirming that 61 civilians and six soldiers were killed in the tragic event.

The three days of national mourning start on Wednesday.

Somali Islamist group al-Shabab said it carried out the attack in retaliation for Kenyan army operations in Somalia.
