The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kwara State has arrested and paraded a 36-year-old man for allegedly impersonating an official of the agency.

The accused person identified as Samuel Alhaji Yawo, it was learnt, hails from Kaduna State. Daily Trust gathered that he was arrested in Jebba Area Command of the agency, before he was transferred to the state headquarters in Ilorin.
Parading the suspect and other seizures made by the agency, the NDLEA commander, Reuben Apeh, said Yawo had been extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public, using fake identity card.
Meanwhile, he said the command made a total seizure of 1,915,449 kilogrammes of hard drugs from January to May 2015, while 64 suspects comprising 54 males and 10 females were arrested within the period.
Apeh added that on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at about 12 midnight, a seizure of 1,076 kilogramme of Indian hemp was recorded.
He described the seizure as very disturbing and a very bad signal to inhabitants of the state, adding that activities of drug peddlers have become sophisticated.
“Drug joints are all over the state and our youths are deeply involved. But officers and men of the agency are ever ready to fight this war and win; to free the state from the grip and scourge of drug merchants”, the NDLEA boss said.
