Chairman of Governing Council of Ladoke Akintola University Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso ,  Professor Wale Omole has presented letter of distress to the Oyo State government over non-payment of six month salaries.

Omole who led members of the council to the office of Governor Abiola Ajimobi, demanded for the release of six months salaries of the institution's staff.

Accompanied by other members, including the Vice Chancellor, Niyi Gbadegesin, he read and presented a letter of request to that effect to the state government.

"Your Excellency, we write to appreciate your efforts at restoring the glory of our institution. But we have to request the release of six month salaries of workers of our great institution.

"Our efforts were aimed at attaining harmonious relationship between the government of Oyo State and the university and not to generate a gap in academic flow." he said.

The former Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, said that the release of fund would go a long way in normalising academic system in the institution.

The chairman said that in order not to jeopardise the progress of the institution, the board hoped that the government would come to their rescue.

He concluded that the owner states of the LAUTECH, which is Oyo and Osun have abdicated their responsibility to the university.

However, Alake Adeyemo, Deputy Governor Oyo State, who stood in for the governor, appealed to the council to bear with the government and go back to work.

"The government knows the importance of education and that is why the administration has done a lot in that sector. In the interest of the students, who are already writing their examinations, I want you to go back to work, so that their future would not be jeopardised.

"The present situation is not peculiar to the states, but also Nigeria in general. It is a pity that the two states have not paid workers' salaries," he said.

Explaining the financial predicament of the state, Adeyemo, who promised to relay their message to the governor, implored them to be patient.
