Court ramands 3 highway robbers

Three suspected highway robbers have been docked before an Ilorin Magistrate Court and subsequently remanded.

Mr A. Bello who presided over the case said they were charged with two counts charges of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery contrary to sections 97 of Penal Code lLw and section 2(1) of Robbery and Firearms (special provision) act cap RII, Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

Those arraigned were Muhammadu Muhammadu aka Tambaya aged 39years, Ekene Edeh, 26, and Joseph Dudu.

The suspected hoodlums were said to be members of highway gang robbers tormenting and terrorising commuters plying in Ilorin.

The Police First Information Report (FIR) alleged that the three suspects were “men of the underworld who criminally conspired among themselves and formed a highway robbery gang tormenting and terrorising commuters plying Ilorin/Kambi/Bode Saadu/Jebba and Mokwa highway axis dispossessing them of their cash and valuables viciously at gun point.

“During the course of investigation one Dan’ Ango Sarki of Kanbi who is one the victims of their ungodly act testified that the trio robbed him of #23,000 cash and tecno handset valued #13,000,”part of the reort read.

The police prosecutor, Zachious Folorunsho told the court that the case was not yet concluded and urged the court to remanded the suspects.

Magistrate Bello however ordered that they should be remanded and adjourned till 28 July for mention.
