2015 EID-FITR GOODWILL MASSAGE:  GOODWILL MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE OF BAUCHI STATE BY HIS EXCELLENCY MOHAMMED ABDULLAHI ABUBAKAR, ESQ THE GOVERNOR OF BAUCHI STATE ON THE OCCASION OF THE 2015 EID-FITR CELEBRATION   ON 17th July 2015                                                            In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the merciful.                                                    

 FELLOW CITIZENS OF BAUCHI STATE

We give Thanks and praises to Almighty Allah 

(SWT) for sparing our lives to witness this important religious occasion - the 2015 Eid- Fitr celebrations.

2      The Eid-elfitr celebrations marks the end of the mandatory Ramadan fasting which entailed abstinence from some of the most basic human needs such as eating, drinking and pleasure of the flesh during the day. Fasting strengthens our faith in the Almighty Allah and purifies our souls and guides our utterances and conduct. It is my hope that we will continue to be responsible in both our utterances and conduct even after the Ramadan period.

3.             We should use the Eid-elFitr occasion to reflect on our past activities and see how we fared spiritually, so that we may take corrective measures towards improving our relationship with Allah (SWT). We should emulate Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) by making sacrifices for the benefit of the less privileged once in our society. We should also pray to Almighty Allah for peace, unity and prosperity in the year ahead.

4.             As Muslim, we should be guided by the teachings of Ramadan in our day to day dealings with our brothers and sisters and extend hands of fellowship to adherents of faith. The Eid-el-Fitr celebrations should also be used to strengthen the existing relationships and also of forgiveness, love and respect for one another. [1] To the end, I urge you to exchange gifts and visits during the Eid-el- Fitr celebrations

5.            As a Government we are committed to peaceful and harmonious coexistence amongst the various groups and individuals of the State. I therefore appeal for tolerance and accommodation by the various ethnic,  religious and political groups in the state. The protection of lives and property of the entire people of Bauchi State is paramount to us. I would therefore like to appeal to all and sundry to join hands with the government towards our resolve to establish a peaceful, prosperous and united Bauchi State.

6.        The current downturn in our economy will no doubt have adverts effect on how the majority of the people will celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr. I want you to see this as a temporary set back and to assure you that all necessary measures are being taken by the Government to address the situation. Meanwhile, I appeal for your continued patience and understanding.

7.        Let me use this opportunity to appeal to all motorists to observe traffic regulations, so that we can  reduce accidents on our highways throughout the period of Eid-el-Fitr celebrations and beyond. I wish you all a happy Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

8.       Finally, I pray to Allah (SWT) to give us long life and good health to witness more Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, amen.
