A foreigner identified as Isa Malick has been reportedly electrocuted at Dangote area of Asa Dam road, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The Niger Republic-born victim was said to have died while trying to remove a wire that fell on the road from his way.
A source who craved anonymity told newsmen that the lifeless body of Malick was found burnt by the roadside.
He said, “I was far away when I saw a lifeless body of the man by the roadside; all I observed was that the body was burnt and I saw an electricity wire, which I suspected fell from the pole.
“I quickly made a call to the police who came to carry the body away,’’ he said.
The spokesman of the state police command, Ajayi Okasanmi, confirmed that a foreigner’s corpse was found around Dangote roundabout.
‘‘We received an information from a good Samaritan that there was a victim of electrocution at the Dangote roundabout and on getting there, a lifeless and burnt body was met.
“Isa Malick, a foreigner from Niger, who intended to remove a wire from his way, got electrocuted”, he said.
All efforts made by the police to conduct post-mortem examination on the deceased proved abortive, as the family said "they are Muslims and accepted what had happened as the act of God.’’
