The high rate of divorce in Africa is now becoming alarming and it is really disheartening to see the speed marriages are collapsing in some African countries.

Among the northern Muslims in Nigeria, divorces are usually initiated by a man who will tell the wife three times before three witnesses. The man has to repeat I divorce you three times and the marriage will be over.

The educated ones among them now add creativity to it by using a text message written "I divorce you" and send it to their wives, once the same text is forwarded to three people, the marriage is over.

The Igbo men have to call their in-laws to take their daughters back or he will use violence to drive her out. The Yorubas always use due court processes usually in a lower court to dissolve the marriage.

In Gambia,  the woman initiates the divorce; same apply to those in Sierra Lone. All the woman will do is to call the husband on phone and shout, "this marriage is over" or "this marriage is done." Case closed.

In Congo Brazzaville is the most creative way to divorce your wife. All the man will do is to pick a piece of her clothe, drop it at his door or gate with taxi fare on it, the woman will take the taxi fare back to her parents house.

There is no doub that children suffer most whenever marriage breaks.
