Police task communities on security challenges

Oyo State Police Commissioner Muhammed Indawaba on Thursday charged communities in the state on security challenges,Speaking to CEOAFRICA news at the inauguration of the Ojo Police Divisional headquarters in Akinyele Local Government Area of the state said provision of security was everybody’s  responsibility.

 

He said local, state and federal government cannot do everything alone, so he urged the communities to cooperate and support the police in the war against insecurity challenges.

 

While noting that some members of the Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) have been supporting the police both financial and with their time, he urged them not to relent in their efforts in ensuring security of lives and property.He encouraged them to continue educating members of the public on the need to be security conscious.

 

The police boss who urged  members of the committee to be  close to serving  officers and men of the Nigeria  Police Force in the state, he said they should expose the bad eggs in the service for necessary action.

 

According to him, policemen who collect bribes should be identified and reported for action. Earlier, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Musiliu Isola Doga who noted the police divisional headquarters was built by the community stakeholders, said it had lived up to expectation in the areas of crime prevention and protection of lives and properties.

 

He noted that the former building hosting the headquarters was marked for demolition due to the construction of Ibadan/Ilorin expressway.

The chairman, caretaker committee Akinyele Local Government, Mukaila Abiola Ambali assured that necessary equipment would be provided at the station to ensure effective security of lives and properties of all in the area.
