Contrary to earlier reports that the federal government gave a bailout to states to meet their indebtedness to workers, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State says no state has received a kobo from the federal government as bailout funds.
The governor, who disclosed this to journalists shortly after a reception in honor of the Inspector-General of Police (IG), Mr. Solomon Arase, in Sabongida-Ora, explained that while he was unaware of any disbursement, there were conversations going on between the governors and the Federal Government.
Governor Oshiomhole said the President had been extremely positive and is committed to seeing an end to the situation where up to fifteen states owe workers’ salaries.
He also said the President was also concerned about the expenditure of the states as well as measures aimed at the effective management of their resources.
