Bauchi Govt records 23 months without polio

Few days after Nigeria marked a year without a new case of poliomyelitis, the Bauchi State Government has recorded 23 months with a new case of the virus.

The State Governor, Muhammed Abubakar, contributes about N52 million monthly, which according to the state primary health care development agency, has contributed immensely to the success of polio eradication and other preventable diseases in the state.

 In 1988, reports have it that polio was endemic in about 123 countries, causing 1000 crippled children on daily basis.
