LAUTECH resident doctors task Oyo Govt on renewed commitment

Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso (LTH) on Thursday tasked Oyo State government on sustainable and renewed commitment towards the institution.

The association’s Chairman, Dr Taiwo Akingbile told newsmen in Ogbomoso   that the full utilisation of the facilities would be beneficial to the state and its environs.

"We urge the Oyo State government to ensure sustainable and renewed commitment towards LTH Ogbomoso so that this laudable monumental project is a success," he said.

Akingbile said that human capacity development could be achieved when parameters are put in place to ensure uninterrupted health service provision, training, likewise adequate welfare of staff.

He said that the hospital was equipped with state of the art equipment used in modern medical and surgical health care.

Among other recommendations of the association were that government should establish a proper hospital management board, maintenance of the hospital's infrastructure to prevent decay, government’s full fledge supports for residency training program, implementation of skipping and relativity of medical doctors.

The health institution was established in 2011 to render quality health care services the citizens of the state and region.

Akingbile conducted newsmen round some the newly installed equipment, among which are Computerised Tomography scan machine, 3-dimensional Ultrasound scanning machine and renal dialysis machine.

Others are laparoscopes, endoscopes and laboratory facilities for various haematological, pathological and biochemical tests.

Akingbile also urged the Oyo State government to pay their March salaries of the institution's workers, which other state workers had been paid.

He said that they have only been paid January and February salaries this year, appreciating the governor and management of the institution.
