The Kwara State Government has debunked claims that the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki is interfering with governance and management of funds in the state.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Communications, Dr. Femi Akorede, made clarification on a radio program, yesterday, in Ilorin, the Kwara State Capital.

Dr. Akorede said that “Senator Bukola Saraki does not interfere with the affairs of the State Government, neither does he involve himself with the management and distribution of resources of the state.

As a former governor of the state, he is sometimes consulted on affairs of state but only in an advisory role”.

Akorede also dismissed the insinuation that the Senate President interfered with the N2.1 Billion NLNG dividend received by the state as false, and explained that there was never a time Dr. Saraki dipped his hand into the state coffers.

Rather, he said, Governor Ahmed approved that the fund be used to pay workers’ salaries and meet other critical obligations.

He reiterated and assured the public that the Kwara State Government remains committed to good governance, and will continue to do all possible to make life better for people of the State.
