Somalia officials say, at least 10 Al Shabab members have been killed in deadly attack on army base in Mokoqori area in central Somalia's Hiran region.

The clashes ensued when Al Shabab rebels armed with rocket propelled grenades and machine guns assaulted on an army base in central Somalia, killing at least 10 fighters from Al Qaeda linked Al Shabab militants.

Somalia military officials said government troops had conducted militants' raids on their army bases, adding that number of Islamist militants had been killed and injured during the ambush offensive.

The African Union troops serving under AMISOM banner, backed by Somalia army flushed Al Shabab militants out of several towns and urban areas in central Somalia's Hiran region, according to military officials.

The allied forces from Somalia and AMISOM launched a new military offensive which led to the recapturing of strategic towns formerly under the siege of Al Shabab insurgents.
