A book with collection of 54 poems, titled “Obama, A Mamma!” was launched on Sunday, celebrating President Barack Obama's recent visit in Kenya and past visits to other parts of Africa.
Author Paul Ngotho, a Chartered Arbitrator and Chartered Valuation Surveyor with experience of over 30 years in Kenya and the U.K has clustered the poems into relationships, hope, celebration, corruption, injustice and politics.
The book is a collection based on his own experiences as a teenager, lawyer, father, husband and a Kenyan.
Ngotho, who already delivered a copy of his book to the U.S Embassy in Nairobi to have it sent to President Obama, said he believed Obama would like the book, because of its themes and also his interest in poetry during his teen years.
From his poems, it is apparent Ngotho is a great admirer of President Obama (both were born three days in August 1961.)
Out of the 54 poems, six of them are dedicated to President Obama; Karibu Nyumbani, The Welding, Mwana Wa Mberi, Obama, A Mamma, Barack's Ass, and Kwaheri Lakini.
He said the book was hard work of over 30 years, thereby, urging aspiring writers to start early.
He hoped that the book will inspire people especially young people to enjoy reading and writing, but also that his writing has contributed to boosting the African poetry.
