Kenyan government has disclosed that eight people have been apprehended in connection with the fatal Westgate Mall attack, CEOAFRICA.com gathered.

This was made known by the Interior Minister Joseph Ole Lenku yesterday in Nairobi, the capital of the country.

"According to police records, there are no formal or official reports of missing persons who could have been at the mall at the time of the attack." He said.

Officials said five of the al-Shabab militant groups that hijacked the mall were killed, while a total of 72 people lost their lives in the process.

Investigators continue to sift through the wreckage at the partially collapsed mall. On Friday, the Kenyan Red Cross said 59 people remain missing following the attack.

Al-Shabab says it wants Kenyan forces to withdraw from Somalia. Kenyan forces entered neighboring Somalia two years ago to help fight the militant group, which has been fighting to turn Somalia into a strict Islamic state.

Meanwhile, Human Right Watch has urged that the attackers should be hunted and brought to book. This was disclosed by the African Director of the group, Daniel Bekele.

According to him, nothing justifies the cruelty displayed by the attackers at the mall.
