It was disclosed that the heavy downpour which lasted for three days in Ondo state has claimed the lives of two pupils of a primary School in Akure.

According to Police report, the two affected pupils are Adebori Timilehin (5) and Olugbenga Martins (6). Both were cousins and they were returning from school when the flood swept them away and drowned.

After three days of intensive searching, their bodies were found by men of the State Fire Brigade inside the Elegbin river.

According to him, it was discovered that the pupils were rushing home because of the rain only to be swept away by the flood occasioned by the heavy downpour.

However the Police Image Maker said detectives are investigating the incident to know if the death of the pupils was as a result of the negligence of the school authorities.
