There are no security scanners yet at the Ringway Assemblies of God Church where President John Mahama worships.

Despite the assurances of tight security around the president, it is reported that except the beef up of personnel around the church premises nothing much has changed.

It was also learnt that the members of the congregation was not searched before entering the church.

It was the first time president John Mahama attended church weeks after a gun man was arrested in the church.

Charles Antwi, 36, who has since been sentenced to ten years in prison said he had wanted to kill the president. He was picked up after he was seen fidgeting on his seat.

Interior Minister Mark Woyongo told Joy News the Charles Antwi debacle was a wakeup call for improved security around the president.

"It is a lesson not only for the church but wherever the president goes from now onwards we would ensure that security is tightened and the life of the president is not endangered.

"Nobody is going to leave anything to chance. Security in the church and wherever the president goes will be tightened," he said.

But some members of the congregation who spoke to our source said nothing much has changed since the Antwi arrest.

There were however a lot of plain clothed personnel who were suspected to be members of the president's security detail.
