I had not received salary since I assumed office --- Aregbesola

Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola has publicly disclosed that he had not received salary since he assumed office in the past five years.

Aregbesola said this at the Osun Stakeholders Conference held in Osogbo to deliberate on the present situations in the state, especially the financial crises in the state.

It will be recalled that the state is owing its workers six months salaries this, however triggered the attention of some political leaders in the state especially those representing the state at the federal level to organise the forum in order to discuss issues affecting the state.

While speaking at the forum, Aregbesola pleaded on the delay in the payment of workers’ salaries, he promised to complete the payment in the next months. The governor however called on the people of Osun to be active in the payment of tax, which serves as back bone to the state locally generated revenue.

Meanwhile, the immediate past governor of Osun State Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, while speaking at the forum commends the effort of the organisers, he however urged the organisers to attend to various questions posed by the indigenes present, saying they have the right to question the money allocated to the state.

Speaking on behalf of the monarchs present, the Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Kayode lauded the effort of the governor in the last five years. The monarch therefore promised to work towards ensuring constant payment of tax by the indigenes of the state.

Speakers in their presentations commends the effort of the governor for putting good policies on ground which includes agriculture, health and education among others.

The gathering had in attendance of past and present political leaders, delegates of various associations, labour leaders and monarchs among others
