Manchester City began their quest for a third premier league title on an emphatic note with a 3-nil whitewash of West-Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.

Ivory-Coast’s enigma; Yaya Toure and metronome; Silva stole the show, imbuing confidence in the team’s title ambitions.

Leicester City had a field day, leveraging on Sunderland’s faltering defence in a 4-2 win. Crystal Palace got the better at Carrow road over Norwich in a 3-1 encounter. Aston-Villa also got the three maximum points in an away win over premier league newcomers; Bournemouth. Liverpool successfully banished the painful memories of their 6-1 annihilation in the hands of Stoke last season as they managed a one-nil away victory at Britannia.

Wayne Ronney secured the lone strike that earned Manchester United maximum points in a pulsating encounter against Tottenham Hotspur. Premier league champions; Chelsea, were held to a two-all draw by visiting Swansea at Stamford bridge.

Nigeria’s Odion Ighalo was on the score sheet for Watford in a two-goal apiece against Everton at Goodison Park. Southampton earned a well-deserved draw after Shane Long’s late goal left both sides settling for a two-goal apiece against Newcastle. Arsenal were made the weeping dog of the week after they were humbled before their home crowd in a two-goal defeat by east London rivals; West-Ham.

As it stands, Manchester city, Leicester city, Crystal Palace and West Ham leads the log while Norwich, Arsenal and West Brom rocks the bottom of the table.
