
The Morocco government has launched a Foundation to help develop and build the Tijaniyya Islamic sect on the continent.
The Foundation for Africa Ullama, which was launched recently, would help empower the clerics with mentorship and training on certain principles of Islam.
The Foundation is also to help champion awareness creation and education about the proper knowledge and understanding of the principles of Islam and the Tijaniyya movement to its followers.
The Ambassador of the Royal Kingdom of Morocco in Ghana, Her Excellency Madam Nezha Alaoui M, Hammdi, during a visit by the Spiritual Leader of Tijaniyya Muslim Council of Ghana Sheikh Abul- Faidi Abdulai Ahmed Maikano and a delegation to her office, disclosed that, her office is ready to help in the development of the Tijaniyya Movement in the country.
To show how committed she seems to be, she has appointed an officer, who is to attend to the needs of the Tijaniyya Movement in order to facilitate and speed responses to all correspondence from the movement.
The Tijaniyya sect, which started from Morocco have already enjoyed several benefit and opportunities from the Moroccan government.
The ambassador however, promised to keep with the close ties that exist between the embassy and the Tijaniyya council while, her office sought to develop programmes that would help in the further spread of the ideology and philosophy beyond the Tariqa Tijaniyya.
“I assure you the availability and willingness to work with the Council for the benefit of the Tijaniyya followers,” she assured the leader of the Tijaniyya council in Ghana.
Khalifat Faidi in his remarks showed appreciation for the commitments of the ambassador in the development of the Tariqa Tijaniyya.
He however narrated the history of the Tijaniyya movement in Ghana, which started in Tamale in the year 1969.
To show the preparedness of his leadership to develop the Movement, a proposal that outlined projects, activities and programs for the further development and spread of the movement was presented to the ambassador.
