The new service chiefs whose appointments were announced on July 12 were decorated on Thursday by President Muhammadu Buhari. The official decoration follows the ratification of their appointment by the Senate on August 4.

In company of President Buhari were the vice President; Yemi Osinbajo, and the officers’ spouses who joined in the decoration of the new military officers with their new ranks.

While been decorated, the President directed the Service Chiefs to return to their duty post and make Nigerians proud.

The officers decorated included Abayomi Olonishakin (Chief of Defence Staff); Tukur Buratai (Chief of Army Staff); Ibok-Ete Ibas (Chief of Naval Staff); and Sadique Abubakar (Chief of Air Staff).

Olonishakin, while speaking on behalf of the officers pledged to carry out their duty as expected, adding that they would not let down the confidence reposed in them.
