The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has commended the Bauchi State government for the payment of outstanding salaries and allowances owed workers in the state.
This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Bauchi and signed by the NLC National President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba.
Ceoafrica gathered that the Labour Group had on March 19, 2015, set up a task force to pursue payment of salary arrears owed workers by some state governments.
"Report reaching us from our task force team and the state council of congress indicates that while other states are struggling to upset between four to seven months outstanding salaries, the case of Bauchi was different and we wish to commend you for honouring your electoral promises to workers in the state.
"We urge you to summon the courage to block leakages, financial recklessness and fight corruption head on because this notion underpin the inability of state governments to pay salaries and allowances as at when due," the statement read.
