Construction work on the Bong County Technical College (BCTC) in Gbarnga is expected to next week.
Making the disclosure to the Liberia News Agency in Gbarnga Saturday, the Chairman of the Bong County Legislative Caucus, Senator Henry Yallah, said the county on Thursday formally signed a contract with the Liberia China Investment Company to complete construction of the college.
Senator Yallah said the Caucus' decision was based on a request from the Ministry of Public Works requesting the county leadership to signb the contract with the company before recommencement of the construction work.
During a meeting with BCTC students and some eminent citizens in July this year, Senator Yallah promised that work on the college would start on Friday, August 15.
The Bong County Caucus Chair told LINA that the contract was attested by the Ministry of Public Works and that the contractor has been mandated by the ministry to begin mobilizing its workers for commencement of the work.
Senator Yallah said discussions have been concluded with the Public Procurement and Concession Commission (PPCC) to ensure that the Ministry of Public Works carries on restricted bidding for supervision and liability.
He said under the contract, a consultant will be hired along with residents at the project site in Gbarnga to ensure effective monitoring and supervision of the work.
