It has been confirmed that Ne-Yo would collaborate with a number of African acts at this season of Coke Studio. The Grammy-winning artiste laid every misgiving to rest when he relayed this development to his fans via his twitter handle.
The Let Me Love You hit maker in the wee hours of Monday, took to his page to retweet Maurice Kirya's post of "Will be working on a song w/ award-winning American R&B/Pop sensation Ne-Yo."
He followed that up with: "Excited to be on the #CokeStudioAfrica stage with Africa's finest!"
Ne-Yo is one of this year's guest artistes alongside Kirya, Wangechi (Kenya), Alikiba (Tanzania), Dama Do Bling (Mozambique) and Ice Prince (Nigeria). Together they will all work on a mega mashup.
In his official statement, Ne-Yo said: "By creating this musical fusion through Coke Studio Africa, people of all races, ethnicities and religion will come together through this remarkable opportunity."
The show, in its third season, is promising a lot with one of the best cast they have ever had from Uganda; they had originally picked Keko, Chameleone and Juliana Kanyomozi.
However, with word that Keko was kicked off the show for indiscipline, it's not yet clear if a Ugandan artiste was chosen to take her place. The season currently taping in Kenya already has seen mashups by Juliana, Chameleone, Flavor, FidQ, and his flying Naija boy, Olamide.
They still have acts including MI Abaga, 2Face Idibia, Jua Cali, Elani, Neyma and Vanessa Mdee. Uganda has in the past been represented by Lilian Mbabazi, Joel Sebunjo, Qwela band , Jackie Chandiru and Navio.
