Famous Tanzanian band Yamoto has refuted reports that it was "bribed" by Diamond Platnumz to release a dis-track for his ex-girlfriend Wema Sepetu.

The young crooners on an interview said that it was purely their idea to record the said song, Nitakupwelepweta.

"We have not received any money from Diamond. This was our own idea. Furthermore, we have no issues with Wema or Diamond's current girlfriend Zari. All we have for them is respect. We were just speaking our mind," said Yamoto's Dogo Aslay.

However, he added that it was the band's "great" friendship with Diamond that got them introduced to a renowned Tanzanian tycoon, Mkubwa Fella, who is now the band's main financier.

Through Fella's philanthropy, the band has been able to put up four bungalow houses in the Mbagala area of Temeke in Dar es Salaam, whose official opening will be overseen by President Jakaya Kikwete
