21-Year Old Boy Sentenced to Seven Years Imprisonment for Defiling 15-Year Old Girl in Ghana

A court sitting in Ghana has sentenced a 21 year old man to seven years imprisonment for forcefully having the canal knowledge of a 15-year-old girl, CEOAFRICA.com gathered.

George Tetteh was alleged to be prayer partner to the victim, whom he met one night at a food joint where he created acquaintance with her by exchange of phone number.

It was gathered that after some months of phone conversation and personal meetings, the convict met the victim one night and had sex with her on the stairway of the said food joint.

During the trial, George Tetteh initially denied having any acquaintance with the victim but later disclosed that he had been in contact with the victim for months, and even sometimes prays together with her.

He had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement, contrary to section 101 of Act 29/60 of the criminal code, as amended by section 11 of act 534/98. He was later found guilty after the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.

The facts of the case are that in October 2011, at about 12 midnight, the victim went to a restaurant called Golden Star Joint at Odorkor Official Town to buy food.

Our source disclosed further that the prosecutor, ASP Sarah Acquah, told the court that while buying the food, George Tetteh approached her and requested the victim to give him her contact number which she did, She said on November 12, 2011, in the afternoon, Tetteh called the victim and asked her to meet him at the same restaurant which she did again obliged.

According to her, the convict lured the victim to a staircase on the first floor of the restaurant and had sex with her and warned her not to disclose the act to anybody.

“In the early part of January 2012, the victim’s mother detected some changes in her and she confessed after being confronted by her mother that Tetteh had sexual intercourse with her.” ASP Acquah said.

The prosecutor also mentioned that a report was made to the police and a medical form was issued to the victim to attend hospital for examination. George Tetteh was subsequently arrested after the medical report had proven that indeed the victim had been defiled.
