The communities highly expose to flood in Kogi State have been sensitized by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on flood risk to reduce impact when it occur.
CEOAFRICA news desk gathered according to the statement by the Coordinator of NEMA, Abuja operating office, Ishaya Isa Chonoko, that the sensitization was informed by the need for sustained awareness across diverse interest groups in vulnerable communities.
According to Chonoko who was represented by Slaku Lugard at the workshop, the fact that the affected people often use schools as camp when flood occur necessitated the provision of tent by NEMA for those that would be displaced especially Ibaji local government.
The Senior Special Assistance to the Kogi State Governor on disaster, Abdulmuminu Isah however acknowledged that the gain at the workshop would add to the value to the State’s Government preparation against the flood.
