Namibia Annual Music Award female artist of the year; Oteya kicked off her unprecedented national tour, in Windhoek over the weekend.

"I am happy the hard work has paid off and I am excited for the rest of the tour," the multi-award winning artiste said

The launch took place over two days, with the first concert held on Friday at the National Theatre of Namibia and the second one for a much bigger crowd at the Zoo Park amphitheatre and both shows were completely sold out.

To set off the tour in style, the singer invited continentally-renowned comedian Anne Kansiime from Uganda who had the audience in stitches on both evenings.

This being her first time in the Land of the Brave, Kansiime was overwhelmed by the support and love she was shown by her fans. The comedian, who poked fun at relationships, among other things, also incorporated current affairs in Namibia and had the audience in happy tears when she took on local trending topics on social media about men being considered heroes for not killing their wives.

Local comedian Sibongile Tshabalala opened up for the Ugandan comedian and also had the audience struggling to hold on to their seats with her sugar daddy jokes.

Oteya seems to be making a name for herself with wowing entrances. While she descended from the ceiling at this years NAMAs, she came onto the stage on the bonnet of a car this time.

She performed songs from her solo debut and deluxe 'Ethimbo' albums and also took the audience down memory lane with a few hits from her Gal Level days.

Performing with a live band, a DJ and a set of four dancers, the 'Love Dance' singer impressed with entertaining shows, each fitting to the two different settings on Friday and on Saturday.

"I am so happy to have found my band, this group of young, talented guys. The aim is to go international and to do that, you have to be able to perform with a live band and I definitely think we are ready for that," Oteya said.

From outfit changes to even different hairstyles for the two performances, Oteya vows to give Namibia first class performances and promises to be a game changer in Namibian entertainment.

Although vocally Oteya still proves to need some work, her transition and immense growth are evident. Her stage presence, interaction with the crowd, choreography and overall performance have set the stage for what may possibly go down in Namibian music history as one of the most pronounced tours.

The next stop for the tour is the northern town of Ongwediva on 29 August. The rest of the dates are still yet to be communicated.
