EU DECLARES TO PARTNER NIGERIA AGAINST OIL THEFT

The European Union (EU) mission in Nigeria has restated its desire and commitment to partner Nigeria on the fight against oil theft in the country.

In Abuja during a press briefing ahead of the 2nd EU-Nigeria Business Forum to be hosted in Lagos State this week, the Trade Counsellor of the Delegation to Nigeria, Massimo De Luca has disclosed this, stating also that the international body would assist the country through military and intelligence.

Luca noted that the issue of oil theft is a very sensitive matter which really calls for a very close cooperation at all level of the economy.

He also disclosed that the European Union in collaboration with member states is developing a comprehensive Golf of Guinea strategy which will also look into the issue of illicit transaction into the oil theft and may also go into technology issue.
