The Nigerian Air Force says two trailers suspected to be carrying logistics support to members of the Boko Haram Terrorist sect have been intercepted and destroyed by the NAF Agusta helicopter on armed reconnaissance mission around the Nigeria-Cameroon border.

NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Dele Alonge, in a statement said the trailers were covered and parked at different locations in the bush around the border town of Belel.

According to him, the recent air operation was commanded by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar to provide close air support to ground forces, which was led by the Chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai, as they advance from Dikwa to Gamboru Ngala.

Meanwhile, one of the attack helicopter was hit during the operation but the pilot was able to successfully fly the helicopter back to base while the affected aircraft has since been repaired.
