Mejri, who is set to make his NBA debut with the Dallas Mavericks, led by example, with 22 points and 7 rebounds.
He blocked shots, dunked, made shots from three-point range (2 for 2), dished out an assist, did the job on the boards and, unsurprisingly, was the local fans' favourite as they cheered with every right play he made.
Michael Roll made equal impact as he lifted Tunisia, making 3 of this 4 three-point attempts.
Tunisia played terrific defense on Nigeria’s leading scorer Chamberlain Oguichi, who finished with 11 points.
Despite Ben Uzoh’s team-high 13 points, Nigeria never led the contest trailing by as many as 22 points.
Mejri’s Tunisia opened the game with a 14-0 run, leaving Nigeria unable to get into the game.
As much as the Western African tried to come back in the game, the night belonged to the hosts who received a major boost from the almost sellout crow at Salle Omnisport Rades.
As a result of the triumph, Tunisia finished the Group Phase undefeated in three games, and advance to the Round of 16 where they will take on the team that finishes last in Group B (Morocco or Mozambique) on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Egypt followed Tunisia to the Round of 16 undefeated in three games, after beating Mali 55-49 in the las game of Group C.
Egypt’s back-up shooting guard Ramy Gunady was the game-changer, hitting 3 of his 7 three-pointers to finish with a game-high 12 points off the bench.
Early in the day, Cameroon confirmed their second-place finish in Group C after beating Gabon 93-67.
And, the Central African Central African denied Uganda a first-ever victory at AfroBasket following a a 60-56 triumph.
