NIGERIA INSPECTOR-GENERAL OF POLICE, MOHAMMED ABUBAKAR

IG OF POLICE REDEPLOYS 61 SENIOR OFFICERS FOR EFFICIENT CRIME COMBAT

The Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Abubakar has ordered the immediate redeployment of 61 senior officers to the various police commands and formations among who are some newly promoted officers.

CEOAFRICA gathered according to the statement of the IGP Abubakar that the recent development was to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the fight against crime and criminality.

The redeployment exercise affected six commissioners of Police (CPs), 26 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and 29 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).

The affected CPs are CP Sherifat Disu Olajoku, who is moved from Western Ports Authority Police Command to Administration ‘C’ Dept., Force Headquarters; CP Ambrose O. Aisabor was redeployed from Administration ‘A’ Dept, Force Headquarters, Abuja to Western Ports Authority Police Command, Lagos; CP Irimiya Yerima was moved from Eastern Ports Authority Police Command, Port Harcourt, to Administration ‘A’ Dept, Force Headquaters, Abuja; CP Tijani Baba, who was the Deputy Commandant, Police College, Kaduna, was redeployed as CP Eastern Ports Authority Police Command, Port Harcourt; CP John Opadokun was moved from PMF, Force Headquaters, Abuja, to Marine, Force Headquaters, Lagos while DCP Karma Hassan becomes the new CP, Police Mobile Force (PMF), Force Headquatera, Abuja. All postings take immediate effect.        

The Police Service Command (PSC) also approved the promotion of 39 senior police officers to the next ranks following the recommendation of the IGP.

A breakdown of the list of the newly promoted officers showed that four Commissioners of Police were promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs).

Among the newly promoted AIGs are AIG Balla Nasarawa, who until his promotion, was the CP, Anambra State Police Command.

Others are AIG Edgar Tam Nanakumo, who is presently acting as the AIG in-charge of Zone 12 with headquarters in Bauchi and AIG Mohammed  Gana, who was the CP, Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS). Also promoted to AIG is AIG Sabo Ringim Ibrahim, who was acting as the AIG in-charge of Border Patrol.

In addition to the newly promoted AIGs are eight Deputy Commissioners of Police, who were promoted to the rank of substantive Commissioners of Police. Seven Assistant Commissioners of Police are now Deputy Commissioners of Police while 20 Chief Superintendents of Police were promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police.
