The Lagos State Police Command has raided a notorious robbery/cultist group that has continually constituted a menace in Mushin and Idi-Oro areas of the state and no fewer than 14 suspects have been arrested in the process.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, appealed to Lagosians to remain calm and to continue to furnish the Command with vibrant intelligence.
Owoseni further warned cultists and armed robbers that the Command "will employ all legal means within his disposal to decisively deal with them and their sponsors cum benefactors," adding that unless and until they desist from such "nefarious activities, there shall be no hiding place for them."
Meanwhile, the Command also foiled another robbery attack around the Trade-Fair Bridge, Badagry after a distress call was put through the Command.
According to a statement made available to CEOAFRICA by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Patricia Amadin, a distress call was received in the early hours of yesterday (Monday) that four armed men were spotted on two motor bikes under the Trade-Fair Bridge inward Badagry, attempting to rob unsuspecting commuters of their possessions.
"Upon receipt of the call, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Division swiftly led a team of operatives to the scene. The heavily armed hoodlums on sighting the policemen, immediately engaged them in a fierce gun battle, killing a suspected motorcyclist in the process. Unfortunately, the miscreants escaped but not without varying degrees of gun-shot wounds," she explained.
Owoseni however urged Lagosians to remain calm and corporative, reiterating the Command's unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety of their lives and property and making Lagos State a safe haven for both residents and businesses alike.
Amadin revealed that the Command has intensified the manhunt for the fleeing culprits and investigation is ongoing.
