An Irish Bishop, William Lee, has voluntarily tendered his letter of resignation from pastoral assignment due to his admittance to a claim that he sheltered a priest accused of child abuse and his resignation has been accepted by Pope Francis, CEOAFRICA.com gathered.

Lee, who was the bishop of Waterford and Lismore, was relieved of his functions in accordance with article 401 of the Code of Canon Law, which covers serious offenses.
