Local beauties vying for the coveted Miss Botswana title will strut their stuff on the ramp during the Miss Botswana fashion show slated for Molapo Piazza on Saturday (August 29).

The event will be used to select the final 12 from the top 30 girls selected during the national auditions. Since the selection of the top 30, the girls have been going through vigorous training to understand what beauty with a purpose entails.

The pageant's media relations director, Tshepo Maphanyane revealed in an interview that the girls have been through vigorous training. Already, she said the girls have presented their ideas for the project in case they walk away with the crown.

In the past, Maphanyane said the queens did not do well in their projects. As a result, she said they saw it necessary to start early to enable the girls to research and collect necessary information for their projects.

She said such enhances the girls' chance of doing well at Miss World beauty spectacle. The pageant's media relations director said the pageant will not only benefit the beauties, but other players such as fashion designers.

He said the girls will be dressed by local designers this weekend. Maphanyane said local fashion designers have what it takes, hence their decision to engage them.

Some of the fashion dynasties, she said attend pageant to scout for designers and are excited to have given the designers such a platform.

The girls will dazzle in dresses by Thabiso Dibeela, Aobakwe Molosiwa, Black Trash, Kaone Moremong, Motlagomang "DihDah" Tsheko, Lame Chilume, Thato Mminatau, Lerato Barwabatsile, Oganne Baitsile, Gaborone Technical College and Limkokwing Fashion Club's creations.

Meanwhile, she revealed that the contestants had an eventful weekend to get them ready for the ramp.

Celebrated South African-born choreographer, Andiswa Manxiwa took the contestants through various paces expected to help them secure a place in the competition.

For one to win, Manxiwa said they must own the stage and must be convincing of their drive to go all the way. The tickets can be purchased from Liquorama Molapo Crossing, Flava Restaurant, Molapo Piazza Marketing Office, Riverwalk and Middle Star.
