U.S President Barack Obama Congratulates Nigerians on 53rd Independence Anniversary

President Barack Obama of the United States of America has congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan and the people of Nigeria over the commemoration of 53 years the country gained Independence from Colonial rulers.

In his statement issued by Secretary of State, John Kerry, President Obama said; “A warm friendship connects the Nigerian and American people, reflecting our shared values of democracy, economic growth, security, and respect for the rule of law and human rights.

“Our partnership is strong because of our people, as the proverb tells us, if you want to go quickly go alone. If you want to go far go together,” he said.

Furthermore, the American President said the U.S would be looking forward to going further with Nigeria as the country provides education, jobs and many opportunities for its people. He concluded by wishing every Nigerian a fruithful celebration.

“On the 53rd anniversary of your independence, I wish all Nigerians a safe and prosperous future,” Obama was quoted by Kerry.
