
Delta State Commisioner of Police ,Alhaji Usman Baba
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Alkali Usman, has declared that officers in the state are adhering strictly to the order of the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase on removal of roadblocks.
Alhaji Usman made this assertion while speaking exclusively to *ceoafrica *at the Police Command, Asaba, yesterday, on issues bordering on security, staff welfare among other things.
CP expressed that Arase has been very supportive in the quest of protecting lives and properties in the state and had also donated about 15 patrol vehicles to the state.
“So far, we have been recording some commendable feats in our pursuit and we are also grateful for the unflinching support of the IGP. In order to make Delta State more peaceful, we have strengthened community policing, so that citizens would be able to join the fight against crime, the DRAGON patrol team has also been put in place to roam freely on the highway and there has also been efforts from the marine force to beef up security in the riverine area of the state.
“We also organise seminars and enlightenment programmes for our officers on how best to do their jobs, there is also reward and punishment in place for officers in the course of carrying out their duties and of course, like we always say, police is your friend; we organise media interaction with the members of the public where they have the opportunity to appraise the officers and criticise them where necessary,” he explained.
The commissioner also hinted that the Delta State government and the police had a working relationship that has been beneficial to the citizens so far.
He added that the command has tried to uphold the right of the common man by setting up a human right desk to tackle violations among other things.
He charged the citizens of the state to keep supplying useful information to the police to enable them serve the people better.
