The Oyo State mass transit scheme, Pacesetter Transport, says plan has commenced to create a dedicated lane for the state’s high capacity transport buses with the aim to end the constant collision of the buses with other vehicles on the road.

Currently, the state’s 90-seater buses share the same roads and bus stops with other smaller commuter buses and commercial motorcycles.

The General Manager of Pacesetter Transport, Mr Wole Akinyele said that the dedicated lane proposal was already with the state government and the state House of Assembly for approval. “The mass transit scheme, which is hugely subsidised, has operated for two years. The next phase is the creation of the Lagos prototype lane for our buses.”

He disclosed this in Ibadan, on Tuesday at a sensitisation programme to educate transport stakeholders on the need to respect the rights of all road users.

The programme was organised by the state police, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Vehicle Inspection Office in collaboration with Pacesetter Transport.
