
Popular Tanzanian hip-hop artiste Joseph Haule aka Professor Jay has finally made his plans of joining partisan politics, reality.
The Tanzanian sensation had earlier announced his intentions in May.
The 40-year-old and multiple award-winning Hapo Vipi hit rapper confirmed that his name will be on the ballot papers in the upcoming general elections in Tanzania, as he took to social media to show the confirmation of his election forms.
He will be vying for a parliamentary seat in Mikumi constituency in Eastern Tanzania on a Chama Cha Demokrasia Na Maendeleo (CHADEMA) ticket.
"The whistle has just gone off. Your prayers are very important my brothers!" he wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
Jay has five solo studio albums and one group album. He started rapping in 1994 as a member of the group Hard Blasters, best known for their hit Chemsha Bongo.
