As part of efforts to initiate programmes aimed at "bettering" the African continent, Award-winning Kenyan music group Sauti Sol will partner with American R&B and pop singer Ne-Yo.

The Sura Yako hit-makers disclosed in an interview that, although the nitty-gritty details of the intended projects are yet to be finalised, the ongoing negotiations look "very" promising.

"We initiated the talks about how - apart from the music stuff - we can work together to make this continent better. So, we agreed to partner to start programmes that would see that vision become a reality. Ne-Yo might start with our own Soma Soma initiative, which aims at equipping schools with books and encouraging a reading culture in Kenya," said Sauti Sol's Delvin Mudigi.

However, he added that the Afro-pop group haven't talked with the American superstar about doing music together, but "things like those come automatically. We are first focused on bettering the lives of our people, then we work on other things. But we are yet to make things formal. We believe that when you have the power to do something that will benefit others, you have no option but to just do it."

The American star was in Kenya last week for a musical project with Coke Studio Africa TV music show.
