The stage is set for the inaugural Zimbabwe Model Awards to be held this Saturday at Crown Plaza hotel.
The show is a brainchild of Mercy Mushaninga and Rose Moyo with support from the Ministry of Sport, Arts and Culture.
In an interview Mushaninga of ZimGossip fame said the final nominees list was concluded last week by the judges and are now working on the judging process.
"All is well and going according to plan. We have already sent the nomination invites to those nominated with some guest receiving their invites.
Winners will walk away with special prizes. The event is a red carpet affair, hence all those invited should come dressed for the occasion," she said.
She said United Kingdom-based model Nyasha Matonhodze of Louis Vutton fame is no longer attending due to a tight schedule.
"We have replaced Matonhedze with our first black Miss Zimbabwe Shirley Nyanyiwa- Chingoka who is one of the guests of honour. She will share her story and we are happy how this will make a greater impact to the modelling industry. I am happy with how some of the corporate sponsors have chipped in," she said.
Asked about the line up of entertainers on the night, Mushaninga said there will be surprise acts.
"Former Miss Tourism Zimbabwe Rumbidzai Mudzengere is the main host of the show with less musicians because our business of the night is to award those who have made an impact since 1980," she said.
Stiff competition is on Model of the Year, Most Flamboyant Personality of the Year and Best Pageant of the Year categories.
