Politicians advised on decent democracy

Politicians in the country have urged to practice the game in line with the laid down rules and regulations. The chairman of Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State, Mr Idris Olapade while speaking on the country's 53rd independence anniversary in Ibadan on Tuesday called for decency democracy on the part of the politicians.

 

According to him, politicians should avoid politics and democracy devoid of

character assassination and name callings among others.He said this become necessary in order for the country and citizens to experience rapid socio-economic development.

 

He therefore enjoined politicians in the country especially those in the state to always display maturity in their political activities in order to promote unity. The council boss noted that when there was peace and unity in the country there would be outstanding development and the people would enjoy the dividends of democracy.

 

He also appealed to religious leaders in the country to continue praying for the nation to overcome the current security challenges.

He commended the efforts of security agencies so far in their commitment in ensuring security of lives and properties.
