The former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke, has condemned the statement said by the state Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to implement report of the confab held in 2014 for the progress of the country.

Oke, said this in a statement issued by his Media Aide, Mr Rotimi Ogunleye, on Thursday, describing the Governor’s suggestion on the confab’s report as another round of cheap diversionary propaganda statement allegedly meant to distract the President.

The statement partly read, “Like he did under President Goodluck Jonathan, he has engaged in another round of cheap diversionary propaganda anchored on a self-imposed leadership status he arrogated to himself, to distract President Muhammadu Buhari from the good job of redressing the injustice of the past and ameliorating the sufferings of the people of Nigeria.

“The governor has refused to see the benefit of the anti-corruption policy of the government which has increased his allocation tremendously in July from what it was in previous months.”

That he cannot see the investors’ confidence in Nigeria economy arising from transparent and accountable management of the economy and strict adherence to stable and predictable fiscal regime brought about by President Buhari.

“He cannot see the far-reaching steps being taken to restore security to the North-East and to resolve servitude in the intervention agency in the Niger Delta.

“He can’t see the internationally acclaimed good intention of Mr. President to promote the welfare of majority of the people. Typical of his style of politics, what he is doing at this moment is to cunningly assemble the people he felt he could use to cause disaffection and derailment of the good work of Mr. President by elevating the report of the last National Conference to the drummers as though the contents were the headache of Nigerians.

“Mr. President should be wary of this fake apostle of federalism. He preaches good governance, practise bad governance and embraces fiscal indiscipline; he preaches transparency yet far from openness. He admires disorderliness and secretly promotes discord in the polity. If he seeks federalism, let him start from his state.”
